As I check out my hotel room during my recent vacation, I noticed the various notices on display. They primarily urged the guests to conserve water by reusing their towels and linen. But was that step enough? What about the luxurious showers or the hot tub baths that guests usually indulged in?
Water is definitely not an abundant resource where only .008 per cent of all available water is fit for human consumption. Despite this, people continue to misuse and waste water, paying little attention to the long-term impact this may have. Obviously, a lot more has to be done on generating guest awareness on water conservation. Simple steps like being asked to serve water in restaurants only if required, limiting use of spas, reporting water leakage to the hotel management etc. would go a long way. Imagine if the entire world, with a population of 7 billion people, did its bit to conserve water. The result would be truly remarkable! It is our moral responsibility, as citizens of this world, to conserve this sacred resource that has been provided so kindly to us by Mother Nature.
